Three water-main breaks flood streets in sections of L.A.

Los Angeles Times reports this morning that “At least three water-main breaks and as many as five additional potential breaks were reported across Los Angeles early today, the Department of Water and Power said, causing flooding and forcing closure of some streets.

A break caused flooding in the Fairfax District, where an 8-inch pipe ruptured at 3rd Street and Fairfax Avenue and caused the pavement to buckle, officials said. The second break was at the intersection of North Bronson and La Mirada avenues in Hollywood, causing flooding as well. The third break was in the 900 block of North Croft Avenue in Los Angeles, just south of West Hollywood.”
